How to clean your computer!
Suggested order of cleaning your computer:
------------------------
-- run a spyware check, with Spybot Search and Destroy
-- run an anti-virus check
------------------------
-- clean your Windows registry with one of these (trial versions):
Registry Supreme
RegCure
Fix-It Utilities 4.0 - get a used copy on ebay
------------------------
-- defragment your hard drive, using your built in Windows Defrag function
If you can't find defrag, and you tell me what version of Windows you are using, I can try to help you further.
------------------------
And another program that is very helpful for seeing what is on your hard drive and rearranging things is Powerdesk. It's similar to the Windows Explorer file manager, but much more powerful. You can get the free version HERE, or get the Pro version for free as part of Fix It Utilities.
------------------------
If you run all these things about once a week, it will go a long way toward keeping your computer running smoothly.
It also helps if you have an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), but we'll save that for another post!
