Pop Quiz
blog entry for week 4/6/08
“At what point do I start gaining my own referrals?”
“When is a good time to move to method 2?”
These are questions that I am asked quite often by new members. These questions are also posted on the forum from time to time. And, I am sure there is one or two tutorials posted on such a topic. Unfortunately there isn’t a clear cut answer to these questions. This question should be answered by each trader themselves. You can answer these questions by asking yourself a few questions. Yea I know how can you answer a question with a question? Or in this case, questions.
The time that a trader moves to gaining referrals (or method 2) may be different from one trader to the next. Some traders catch on very quick and start gaining referrals for there sites after going green for cash on two trades. Other traders may do ten green for cash trades. Nowhere is it written that you must have a minimum itrader number or TR to start gaining your own referrals. It really is up to each trader individually. Believe it or not new members have been told that you have to wait until you are out of offers to signup for or that you must have a TR or itrader number of 10 or above. This is not the case. I always answer this question by providing a pop quiz. All answers on this quiz are yes/no answers. This lets the trader decide on there own by how they answer:
How do I know if I am ready to move to Method 2
1. Do you understand the process of going green?
2. Can you answer all the questions you had your first few days of working freebies?
3. Could you explain the process of going green to a new member?
4. Do you know what extending your account means?
5. Do you know and abide by the forum rules?
6. Do you know how to use the forum as a tool to help you in freebie trading?
7. Can you sniff out a possible scam (this takes time and experience)?
8. Are you patient and organized?
9. Do you know how to communicate professionally with the forum staff, site staff and owners, as well as other traders?
10. Do you get discouraged easily?
+ If you answered yes to 1 thru 9 and no to number 10, I would say you are definitely ready to move to gaining your own referrals.
+ If you answered yes to the majority of these questions but no to number 7 you are probably OK. Identifying scams comes with time and experience.
It is whole new ball game once you start paying for referrals. Sure Method 2 is where you make the most money but it is also where a lot of traders get frustrated and end up quitting.
Of course this is my opinion. I could be wrong.

Extending your account is when you sign up for a site in the same network as another site you already have signed up for. When you do this you will usually check the box existing user instead of new user. When you do this all your account information (name, address, phone#, etc.) is extended to the new site you just signed up on. For example if I am already a user on 60.ourloot2boot but I then signed up on giftcards.ourloot2boot I would sign up as an existing user. This would extend my account to giftcards.ourloot2boot.
