It's Raining Greens!!!!
blog entry for week 3/23/08
It is raining Greens!!!!
No, that comment isn’t about endless referrals or 100% crediting. It is about the amount of free greens being handed out. Are promotional free greens a good thing? Yea, I know what you are saying; “That’s a stupid question.” Well, the answer to that question shouldn’t be a definite “yes”. Let’s take a look at free greens from a trader’s point of you.
Why are free greens so popular? It allows a trader to pick up a site without having to complete the offer requirements. So a trader can work a site without having to make that first initial investment by going green. Wow, that’s great, or is it?
In my opinion Free Greens should be limited. The amount of Free Greens being handed out can get out of control. It is possible for a new member who just signed up today to be green on at least 20 different sites by not completing any offers. To me this can damage trading in more then one way. Say this new member tries to start gaining referrals for these sites. Because they haven't gone through the process of being a referral and completing offers themselves, how could they possibly instruct any new member who may want to go green on one of there sites. You can say well they have a 0TR so they won't attract too many new members as referrals. Maybe so. However, a lot of new members coming in don't know what to look for when starting out. They may just pick the first post they click on in the paying for referrals forum. In this situation everybody loses.
Another thing, I never understand why when a network offers free greens on all there sites, some traders signup for free greens on all the sites. This is even more baffling to me when the network is a green 4 life, repeatable network. Especially, when the majority of the sites are the same payout per referral. If it is green 4 life, why would you signup for 6 different sites that pay $40 per referral and all sites are part of the same network.
The mentality of a lot of traders (especially on FLR) is once they start gaining referrals they are done doing offers forever. Free Greens promotes this way of thinking.
Traders should never stop completing offers in my opinion. Offer completions are what makes the freebie site industry thrive. Getting free greens on 15 different sites in the same network could handicap your trading future. Those 15 sites you just signed up on (un-referred) to get the free greens, you can not signup on again as a referral for someone else. Maybe you need one last referral for a site and the only way to get that last referral is by doing a green 4 green trade. Then you find out that the trader you are working with on a green 4 green trade needs a referral on a site that you got a free green on 4 months ago but have yet to even work that site. This is how a free green can hurt you.
Now I will be the first one to admit, I signup for free greens from time to time. But I do so with the intent of trying the site out by working the site. I also do not signup for every site in the network. If I do signup for multiple sites within the network, the sites usually have varying payout amounts.
Free greens should be regulated in my opinion. Maybe they should be given only to traders with a TR and with some tenure. Maybe they should only be given on only one site per network. Maybe for a trader to qualify for free greens on a network they would have had to go green by completing offers on another site within the same network.
Does offering Free Greens hurt the freebie site industry?
Does repeatable, Green 4 Life sites hurt the freebie site industry?
Maybe these two factors (that everybody loves) individually don't damage the industry. But put the two factors together, maybe they will. Only time will tell.
Of course this is my opinion. I could be wrong.

Marble I completely agree with you...and I am not all for free greens...how on earth will you green for green when an offer comes out that you want to do...if you went around and collected sites just to have them?

I really like your suggestions on how they should consider delivering the free greens. Even it's really appreciated to get forever greens on a network it's not always a good thing for the business...
