P... Is for the first key to success

Blog entry for week of 5/4/2008

There are several qualities that a trader must practice to have success working freebie sites. Over the next three weeks I will be writing about the three major qualities that need to be applied to make working freebie sites a fun and profitable experience. The first attribute needed is Patience.

That’s right patience is a big key to success. Every veteran trader will tell you this and you will see the word patience in hundreds of different posts on the forums. Did you ever hear the phrase “all good things come to he who waits”? Well that certainly applies to working freesites.

Not only is this the most important key to having success it can be the hardest one to practice. These are the areas that patience must be practiced.

1. Waiting for an Offer to credit: This is where you will see the word patience in every offer crediting post on the forum. Offers don’t always credit instantly (even if they are marked instant credit). In the majority of the cases the freebie site has nothing to do with when or if your offer credits. So, if you complete an offer and it doesn’t credit right away do not panic. Usually offers that don’t credit instantly are offers that aren’t supposed to credit instantly. Meaning they may be an offer that is advertised as “credits within 3-5 days”. Another reason an offer doesn’t credit is that the advertising affiliate that the freebie site is running the offer through has delays in postbacks. Postbacks are how a freebie site tracks that you received credit for your offer. And then sometimes you complete an instant credit offer and it takes five days to credit. Really there is no logical explanation for this. It’s just something that happens from time to time. Also the time involved to wait for a manual credit can be lengthy. If the site accepts manual credit requests you may have to wait 30 days for a response and even then there is no guarantee that the offer will credit.

2. Waiting for an MCR reply: This kind of goes along with number one but I listed it seperate because this could be a longer wait in most cases. You should always wait at least seven days from the time the offer is supposed to credit before submitting a Manual Credit Request. But even after you submit the MCR it could take any where from 15 to 60 days to here a response. Even then there is no guarantee that you will receive credit for the offer. A lot of sites still do not accept MCRs but there are ones that do and for these situations it can be a long wait.

3. Waiting for a referral to go green: This is where practicing patience can really be hard. In the cases where you have nine referrals green and you need ten to cash out and that tenth referral hasn’t gone green. The tenth referral may need to put in a credit request which will take seven days before they can even submit the request, Then after that it can take up to 30 days to get a reply to the request. Or, maybe the tenth referral chose an offer that’s credit time is 20 days. Now this scenario isn’t a big deal if the site involved is a repeatable site. But if the site is not repeatable such as a TraInn site, the situation will require a great deal of patience. Sure you could just refer someone else have them go green and then cash out. But when your original tenth referral goes green you will be obligated to pay them. See not being patient has cost you money. Some traders choose not to work non-repeatable sites for this reason. I myself don’t let this deter me from working these types of sites. I actually find it to be a challenge when I get down to only needing one or two referrals to cash out.

4. Waiting to get started: All new members should read this one. When a lot of new members come in they want to make money right away. When really it would be better for them to take there time and learn how the forum works. A lot of new members rush in when they really aren’t ready. Rushing in before you know what you are doing could have negative consequences. New members that come in through project payday are sometimes brainwashed. They read about how you can make $300 your first night and this encourages them to take the leap before they really should. Anyone that is new should take the first couple of days just to read tutorials, browse the forum, learn how the forum works, and most importantly know the forum rules. Take the time to ask questions up front. So be proactive in gaining knowledge instead of reactive. The more you know and understand before your first trade the better off you will be.

5. Waiting to be paid for your referral: If you go green and the green is for a paypal payment, you might have to wait a certain amount of time to get paid. Some traders pay on approval. This means after you go green you may have to wait until the trader who referred you gains enough referrals to put in for approval for there order. In some cases this can be a lengthy time period. Some traders pay on verified green. This means the trader will have the validity of your referral checked out by the freebie site prior to submitting payment. In most cases this referral check is requested through a support ticket on the site. Support ticket responses vary from site to site. 1-4 days. Some traders are not as active as other traders. So a trader may not be on the forum or have access to there freebie sites to check the progress of there referrals. If you are waiting for payment don’t send PMs every hour demanding payment. Just be patient. Just because a trader that needs to pay you for your green doesn’t reply to you in a few hours, doesn’t mean you are being scammed.

6. Waiting to gain referrals: This one is directed towards everyone. There always seems to be times when there is less traffic and activity on the forum. Most traders who have been doing this awhile know the peak times and the low times. If it is slow on the forum, log off go outside and enjoy the day. Don’t feel you need to camp out on the forum waiting to for your trade thread to be responded to or a private message from a potential referral. This type of waiting can lead to frustration. If you get frustrated you need to just log off and do something else for awhile. Recharge the batteries and then come back.

So, you can see there is a lot of waiting involved with working freebie sites. This is why patience is a must. A lot of times you don’t get credit instantly, or your referrals don’t green as fast as you would like them to. Just be patient. Look at it this way, there is a great arcade on FLR to kill time while you wait.

Of course this is just my opinion. I could be wrong.
