blog entry for the week of 5/18/2008
There are several qualities that a trader must practice to have success working freebie sites. In my blog last week I talked about the importance of practicing patience. This week’s key to success is being Organized.
All successful traders are well organized and they have a system in place to help them be organized. Some traders keep spreadsheets or notebooks. Some may use a scheduling program, or maybe a combination of all of these. There are a lot of details to keep track of when working freebie sites.
1.Sites: Since you can only signup for any site just one time, it is important that you keep track of the sites that you are registered on. I see to many new member make the mistake of signing up on the same site more then once. Now most sites have scripts that will not allow you to signup on the same site using the same email address more then once. But if you try to signup using a different email address this is possible but can cause you some issues. There are sites with older scripts that will allow you to signup and register using the same email address. This too can cause a negative consequence. So it is important to keep track of the sites you are registered on.
2. Offers: Since you can only signup for any offer just once, you will need to keep track of the offers you have signed up for. Keeping accurate notes about offers is a must. When I complete offers I copy and paste the offers Terms and conditions into a word document and save it to a dedicate folder. I also save and print out any confirmation web page and confirmation email from the offers. I always keep track of the offer company’s customer service telephone number and or email address. I always right down the date that you signed up for the offer. If it is a trial offer know when the trial term is over. If you use a scheduling program to keep track of dates for offers you may want to setup your scheduling program with reminders. This can help you remember a trial offer’s trial term expiration. If you wish to not keep an offer after the trial term, most offers require you to call a customer service number and cancel. It is a very good idea if you do cancel, to get the customer service representative’s name, handling number (if this applies) and either a cancel confirmation number or confirmation email.
3. Traders: Always keep track of the traders that you trade with and on what forum you have trades setup on. Keep track of the sites that traders have signed up on and greened on. It is a good idea to keep track of the traders email address, im address, Paypal address, and of course there forum user name. You may also want to keep track of traders that you have not traded with. There are a lot of traders that offer help and assistance. Keeping track of helpful veteran traders can be beneficial when you have questions that need answers.
4. Payments: Always keep track of the payments you have sent and received. I keep track of every Paypal transaction that is made to and from my account. Keep track of what sites you have been paid by and how much. Keep track of what payments you have made to your referrals. Keep track of what payments you have received from other traders. This is pretty easy to keep track of because all this information is available when you log into your Paypal account.
5. Communications: You may want to keep track of any or all correspondence that you have with traders, forum staff, and site support staff/owners. I save every forum private message that I receive and send. I also save every instant message session that I have with any traders or freebie sites. This can be very important information to have if you need to dispute or clarify something in the future.
6. Forum Threads and Posts: There are a lot of useful forum posts that should be saved or bookmarked for easy access. There are several posts that I have printed out and/or bookmark so I can reference later. Let’s face it there is a lot of detailed information a trader must know. It is easy to forget some information. So, if you bookmark or print this information out, you can easily access it in the future when needed.
I want to tell you a story about a situation that happened to me a few months back. I was working on a particular freebie site. One day I tried logging in to this site and was unable to do so. The site would not accept my login email address or password. I tried to reset my password but still had not luck. I contacted the site owner on instant messaging and inform them of my problem. After some investigation it was discovered that my account on this freebie network was gone or deleted. The site had done an update to there script and for some reason my account was wiped out. I was a little frustrated because I had several greens plus more referrals waiting for offer credits. Since I was organized and had the email addresses of all my referrals and the dates that they signed up on the site, I was able to provide this information to the freebie site and they were able to restore my account in a day or two. So keep track of everything you never know when you’ll need to use some information that you saved.
