Medical Studies

Ok,
So it is almost summer again and sometimes I just wanna do something that can get more money in my pocket.
So I sign up for medical studies. Yes, I have to qualify for these things... but I do and I have so much fun while earning $200 or more per day.
So I start on the 26th of May with this study. It has several visits, some in-house, some just day to day. But it pays so well.
So, while I am in, I will be on here every day and every chance I can get.
Hope all goes well.
Sharon

my medical study. A wonderful opportunity! ugh...
Drugs are good!... and so is the money and I have to keep that in mind....
i found that the website that I was telling everyone is not the correct one any more... although it answers questions, it doesn't give you the available studies for volunteers.... Quintiles (913) 894-5533 | Welcome to Clinical Research! will tell you more and give you an opportunity to ask more... apply or even see where it is located. It seems this Phase I facility is only located in KS. So unless you can come to this facility, it would not be worth it for someone who lived far away.
I started Tuesday and YES they kept me... they kept 54 people but had to send 8 home because of health issues, high blood pressure or whatever. They won't keep people who might be at high risk for the drug they are testing.
This drug is aericept for alzheimers... (yes, I could use a little help) lol... but truly they are testing to see if the medicine can be put in a patch and stay in the body as well as the once a day pill. So, how do they test that... they take blood... give us the drug and continue that for 4 weeks, then they give the patch and stop the pill and continue to take drug to see if the medicine level stays in the system. So, we are taking a drug that is already approved by the FDA. They monitor people so much.... I have to travel every day for this study. All studies are different and require different things. This one is sooooo different, they take a Breathalyzer test on us every day too! lol I think that is funny, but evidently people don't abide by rules (ha ha... like FLR doesn't know that) and they have some people come in drunk!
They run so many tests on me that I find out my cholesterol level as well as other normal tests that people pay doctors a lot of money to be told. In any case, they like healthy people and I'm glad that I'm healthy.
Well, will try to remember to write here often to let you know how the study is going. maybe i'll take a picture of my arm when it gets a lot of wholes.... LOLPosted 05-28-2009 at 09:23 PM by sbservices

Ok, so today is like day 22 of study (or somewhere close to that) and I am getting use to going in every day. My body is getting use to the meds and as much as I tease, they are not that bad. Most studies I do, the meds don't bother me at all.
So yesterday I was there. The nurse who does the breathalizer on me (yes they test every day for the level of alcohol... just lucky they are not testing for DEW!)... the nurse is a gay male nurse, who is absolutely fun to be around. I have seen him several times on all of my studies and I like to talk with him.
so yesterday, he was talking about tattoos and piercings... and that he does his own piercings and we talked about the different spots people do. I have my ears done and that is it! lol He has his tongue, eye brow, ears and said he has done his belly button several times... so much that there is nothing but scare there. He has done his tits and well, we didn't go any further.
As it went, I made the comment how I'm old and old fashion and don't have any tattoos or other piercings. We laughed, joked, teased and I left him with his comment how I should get wild and come back tomorrow with red hair and a tattoo.
So, I went in this morning with red hair and a tattoo.... (fake tattoo of course and I sprayed the red in my hair) He just about died and so did all the other nurses, they brought the doctor over and told him that I was having adverse reactions to the drug... he laughed and knuckle five'd me (I guess that is what they call it) and omg, did we have a good time!
lol I could think nothing more than how I love to have fun and how much fun I would have with my friends at the FLR, if we were to get together... person to person!Posted 06-19-2009 at 11:57 AM by sbservices

I am looking forward to checking in again...
Tuesday is coming up... July 14th.
I stay 9 days this time. So looking forward to it, because I'll be able to be on the FLR more and also, I won't be driving every morning. whew! I so did not think this one through before I signed up.
Most of the time, I choose something I can go and stay for about 5 days... get $1200 and leave... not come back....
In any case, for about $200/day.... I never am sorry about doing them.
Will write more later.Posted 07-08-2009 at 09:00 PM by sbservices
