Newbie Advice – Part 1: Things To Consider When Building Your Portfolio


If you’re new… then before you agree to your first trade, read this so you don’t make the same mistakes I did! What every Newbie needs to know …

When I found Project Payday and the Free Lunch Room, I read everything and watched all the videos. I thought I was ready to go, but all I was concerned about was how to make money! Isn’t that what’s on most everyone’s mind when they start??? I was broke and all I focused on was the high paying sites so I could make the most money. I didn’t think about anything else. Well, that’s all fine and good, except… THERE’S A LOT MORE TO METHOD 1 and if you are not aware of the things I’m going to share with you here, you’ll really be stuck when you want to do Method 2. These are things I never thought about when I first started out…

Here’s the Skinny:

1 – You will make some money doing Method 1, but the real money is made in Method 2. So the secret of Method 1 is to Build A Great Portfolio Of Sites You Can Offer In Method 2. That is your focus!

2 – When deciding on which sites to do, money is a consideration, but it’s not the most important one.

Things to Consider:

1 - Prizes
2 - Number of Referrals to Cash Out
3 - Repeatable/Forever Green vs. One-And-Done Sites
4 - Offers
5 - Site Reliability / Service / Support
6 - Trader to Help You

Newbie Advice – Part 2: Things To Consider When Building Your Portfolio

Here's a continuation of my Newbie Advice, Steps 4 through 6...

4 – Things to Consider About Offers

Offer Values (or Weights) on Different Sites

You’ve heard that you can only do an offer once and a site once; otherwise you will go Red, right? So, when considering doing a site, it’s best to map out which offers you will complete in order to total the number of credits you need. (I have a handy spreadsheet that helps you with fractions to total full credits, if you’d like. Just PM me with your email address and request it.)

You’ll also find that offers are similar on a lot of sites but they have different values or weights. An offer might be worth ½ credit on one site, and 1/3 or even ¼ credit on another site. Why? Because an easy site that pays less may require you to only do 1 or 2 offers to go green, while a more advanced site that pays more will value their credits lower so you have to do 3, 4, 5 or more offers to go green. Some sites even require you to complete 2 or more credits instead of 1 and they pay the most.

You might be saying to yourself at this point “That’s okay… I don’t mind doing more offers. Just pay me the money.” Just remember you can only do an offer one time and they are pretty similar on all sites. So, if you are doing 6 offers on one site to go green, instead of 2 offers on 3 sites, then you’ve used up those offers and you only added 1 site to your portfolio instead of 3. The more variety of sites you can list will mean more people will be able to green for you. If they’ve already done the sites you have, basically you’re out of luck.

Offers May Not Credit

Plus, we haven’t discussed this, but it’s just part of the business that some offers may not credit for a variety of reasons. Some offers (and some sites as a whole) do not allow MCRs (Manual Credit Requests). I’ve even received a product, but never received the email confirmation needed to create an MCR, so I couldn’t get credit. When you add this in the mix, you may wind up doing more offers than you originally thought you’d have to do in order to go green. Make sure you have some alternative offers available on your list in case this happens. It’s really sad if something doesn’t credit and you need for example, a 1/5 credit to go green, and there aren’t any more offers you can do. So you have to wait until more offers are added to go green. Things happen, but try to plan ahead as much as possible.

You should only do offers that you are interested in and be sure to give the offers a fair chance during your trial by using the products. If you cancel the offer right away, you will go Red. If you decide you don’t want to keep the trial, wait until 2 days before the trial ends before you cancel. Keep great notes when you do offers so you’ll know when the trial ends. 5 - Site Reliability / Service / Support

This section concerns you more when you get to Method 2, but remember, the sites you complete will be the ones you can offer to your referrals. You want to be sure that the sites are proven and have a good reputation, and that they have good support if you need help. There’s a whole section in the Forums that lists the various sites. Click on the Home tab and scroll down to “Proven Legitimate Sites” and “Not Proven Legitimate/Brand New” Sites. Check out the site you plan to do and see what the feedback is. Right now, you will be paid by your trader. But when you get to Method 2, you will be paid by the site and that will be important to you. How fast do they pay? How often do they pay? Check out the Terms of Service.

6 – Trader to Help You

You’ve probably received a lot of posts to your thread in “Looking to Complete Offers”. Read them and look for a trader that you can relate to, that’s honest and fair, that has a list of sites you want to do, with rates you feel comfortable with. Check out what the feedback is from other people. Read their trade thread, review their profile and PM (Private Message) them to start up a conversation. Traders cannot contact you first, or it would be considered SPAM. However, they can respond to your PM (Private message), VM (Visitor Message) or posts to threads.

If you feel comfortable with them, try out a trade and see how it goes. We have a lot of fantastic traders at FLR, so you will have no trouble finding an honest person to be your mentor. Some people say to look at the number of trades and choose a trader based on a high TR number. There’s no doubt that someone with a higher number has done the business more and has learned things along the way. However, try not to be too quick to discount someone who is newer to Method 2. After my first few trades, I picked someone who had a TR count of 30, and he was fantastic. So, it’s not always in the numbers. You will get to know a person pretty well by their profile, pictures, posts they’ve done and feedback from other traders they’ve worked with. Plus, now that you know what I’ve told you here, you’ll be a wiser trader and know what to look for to coincide with your future goals.
