3 Ways To Check A Fellow Trader - FreeLunchRoom - The #1 Freebie Trading Forum on the Internet!

ALWAYS check out the person you’re thinking about trading with BEFORE you agree to trade with them.

3 WAYS TO CHECK A FELLOW TRADER:

#1 - Check out their TR (Trade Rating)
iTrader: 0 / 0%

The underlined number above is the amount of trades a user has completed.

If you think they’ve got a pretty decent TR…awesome! But, DON’T STOP THERE!!!

#2 - Click on the traders name (to the left of their posts). Click "View Public Profile" - You should see something that looks like this:

Find all posts by DreamFreak69
Find all threads started by DreamFreak69

This page will tell you when I joined, how many posts I’ve written and if you click where it says “Find all posts by DreamFreak69” it will bring you to a list of everything I’ve posted. If you click "Find all threads started by DreamFreak69" it will bring you to a list of all the ones I've started. Read them!

A zero or very low post count (less than 5) should give you a good warning that this person isn't very active. MANY scammers don't post because they don't want to bring attention to themselves and tend to do their scamming via PM or outside of the forum (instant messanging or email). So if you're being PMd by a person with a zero post count then that should be your first warning flag and if you get an email or instant message instead of a PM then there's another very clear warning sign that you shouldn't trade with this user or proceed with extreme caution.

UPDATE 06-21-07
A zero or very low post count can also mean the person is very NEW. Low post counts are not a 100% guarantee that this person is a scammer...nor are they a 100% guarantee that this person is new. Use caution and common sense...ask other traders if you are still unsure of whether or not to trade with a particular person after doing everything in this post.

If you’re still feeling comfortable with this trader…great! But, DON”T STOP THERE!!!

#3 - Go to the “Lunch Theft” forum by clicking here:

Scroll down through the posts to see if the person you’re “checking out” is there. This is where traders post complaints relating to “stolen” money or prizes…aka Lunch Theft

Another thing that helps is to do a search on the person. Click the search link above and put the traders name in the search and it will show you any threads that include their name. You can then see any trades they have done, if they are responding to those trades, if they have completed those trades and if there are any problems that others are talking about.

Great tips, guys! I must say, I was really lucky starting out, but alot of people aren't so lucky! :( It pays to be careful!

From what I've found, the majority of the people on here are really great people and are really helpful! If you don't understand, or are unsure - ASK!! :)
