Updated 8/23/2008 due to some changes in how things look on Paypal, and for better quality pictures.

DISCLAIMER: I can not guarantee that you will win, but this has always worked for me.

I'm fairly sure everyone knows how to use paypal, but just in case, here's a little guide for sending a payment, and how to basically ensure that you win a dispute. Hopefully none of your referrals go red or at least if they do they have the decency to send you a refund. However, if they want to make it difficult, this has always gotten me my money back.

Okay, so you have a referral that went green, and now you need to pay them.
((Make sure they have a verified paypal account or you will be unable to recover your money in the even you need to file a dispute/claim)) {Thanks to tink1290}
First, obviously, sign in to paypal. Easy, right? Good. All right, now that we've got that out of the way, click on the tab that says "Send Money"



Still with me? Great. Next, you should see a page that has info you need to fill in (To: referral's email; Amount: Payment agreed on; Currency: type of monies sent; For: Select "Service/Other"). Looks a little like this:



Click Continue.
Next you'll be taken to a page where you get a chance to review the details you just put in. Make sure everything is right and then you can send a message to the person you are paying. Below is what I generally include in the message. I have yet to lose a paypal claim associated with referral swapping.


Like I said, I have yet to lose a paypal claim. So hopefully this helps someone. Post any questions, comments, etc.

I thought we were supposed to list it as goods instead of services in order for paypal to investigate. I thought they didn't recover funds for services.

Nope. A referral is performing a service. Paypal cannot investigate non-tangible goods. I am fairly sure that listing a trade as a good will result in a negative result if a claim is filed. I have always listed my trades as services and hve always gotten my money returned by paypal.

I have ALWAYS used the service option because essentially that is what it is. Goods are tangible and greens are not.

I have also never lost a claim.

I have seen several people state that they were denied their claim on the basis that they submitted the transaction as money for goods, and the claim was denied because Paypal only covers tangible goods.
