Talking I just read my frist book in 4 years :O)

I used to read all the time, but since my daughter, I have not read a book cover to cover, I take that back, I read several a day but they are children's books :O) The only books I have been able to read, besided children's books, are teh kind that you don't have to read cover to cover..... like the Bible, self-help books.... one of my favorites is How to Have a House that Cleans Itself, just books like this... ones you pick up and read but you don't have to read the whole thing, or in any kind of order to be able to read it. Does this sound familiar :O) Anyways.... I was going through my Mom's books and there was a book called 90 Minutes in Heaven.... so I said to myself (and my daughter) that we were going to have 10 minutes of quiet time each night, reading to ourselves before I read her her books. She just started getting into caring for dolls and dogs and such so she was into reading to them... the first few nights every 3.49 seconds she woudl ask me, what her books said on that page, then again, etc... so I just kept explaining to her that I wanted her to get a book that she knew pretty much by heart to read to her dolls, so after several nights she finally quieted down and I read a book!!! WHOOO HOOOO!!! I know it sounds so small and insignificant, but as a single parent, this is HUGE!

Has anyone else read this book? With my mom just passing, I found it every encouraging ang making me almost happy for my Mom. I know people always say.... they are in a better place, and even though we know that, it really doesn't make it any easier, the daily missing of the one you so cheerish..... but somehow I have done quite well, and I think it is ONLY because of my faith in God, His promise of our reunion day and knowing there is a Heaven.

Rest assured, your mom sees how well you are doing and I am positive she is very pleased and would have it no other way!

Kudos on your quiet time. I am a single mom of a three year old and those special days when she actually sleeps during her nap are amazing.

Thank you, this was one of her books. My daughter is coming along nice, she is enjoying it too, I am going to up our times. I even got work done at home this week, with her here and awake :O) She is my angel straight from God, this I know for certain, God prepared me for my Mom's death with my daughter, knowing one day I would have a hole so large that only the love of a child coudl even begin to fill.... or at least give you so much to do you didn't have to think about it :O) HUGS!

Congrats on reading a book cover to cover. I wish I could do that. I'm not a single mom, but I work a full time job and by the time I get home I have to tend to dinner and taking care of my family, I sometimes get forgotten. By the time I think about reading, I'm too tired. So, great job and thanks for being an inspiration.

Congrats on your accomplishment. Reading is one of my guilty pleasures so I understand what a wonderful experience this must have been for you; I hope you are afforded the time to do so as much as you would like since it obviously gave you such pleasure. I am happy that you have your daughter to lessen you grief a little.

Blessings!

It was great! I just bought another book called The Power of a Positive Mom, this one is really great, I am going to look for someoen to read it with and do the "assignments". I am excited! I used to read all the time, now I can barely read my email without interruptions!

I know back in the day when I thought I was busy (before I had my daughter).... I used to keep a book in my car and read at teh stop lights, back then I thought I had to squeeze things in, if I would have only known how much more I would have to learn about squeezing things in and time managment :O)

This gets me excited!! I've not read a book in full since 2005...and I remember that well as it was for one of my degrees and it's the only reason I read it...far too much time reading online and have sorely missed that "quiet" time:)

The reason this gets me excited is I just did a book club offer where they offer items of spiritual and other uplifts...got "The Power of a Woman's Words" by Sharon Jayne, who also wrote one I read snippets of before..."Your Scars are Beautiful to God", thus...excited!!

It's funny, at least to me...that we spend the early part of our lives hungry to learn HOW to read yet as we get older, short of newspapers, articles and an occasional magazine, well....lol...just well...so thanks for sharing this - you've helped renew my enthusiasm for the recreation:)

Re: I just read my frist book in 4 years :O)

I am glad you are excited. I went to a meeting today for the MOMSCLUB, I guess it is an international group, but anyways, they have a book a month they read and get together once a month to discuss it.... they made fun of it today because they got together to discuss the book and no one ever mentioned the book they were just so glad to be out with other adult women :O)

The book I got is called The Power of a Positive Mom, it si by Karol Ladd, bestselling author... I also got a Joyce Meyer boo called 100 ways to simplify your life, that one is okay but more like a daily motivational book.... they are all like 1, maybe 2 pages and they just give little simple things, but the day i bought it i think i was having a break down :O) and needed it.... i went to barnes adn nobles and stayed there the entire day my daughter was at shcool, like 4 hours.... when my mom first passed, it was hard because my days were alwasy spent with her all day every day, so i just drove to the book store and waited for it to opena nd then left when school was over, it was like i didn't want to be alone with my thoughts, at least not yet, the first month or so was horrible.... still is, but now my daughter is out of school so I don't have time iwth my thoughts, alone anyways, or quiet for that matter :)

I was thinking of getting an audio book for my trip to NY? But that might put me to sleep, I might just have to dig otu some music for that one :) or make a phone roster of peopel to talk to!!

Re: I just read my frist book in 4 years :O)

lol I read my first book since I graduated from high school 3 years ago. I actually read three books. The Cross and the Switchblade, James Patterson The Beach House, and James Patterson 7th Heaven. You should try reading his books....the suspense is awesome. I finished both of his books in two days!
