I know there is another long thread about this, but I thought I needed to start a new one to make sure this info was seen by everyone.

I did this offer on March 17th. I tried to read through the info, but it was just too much...there is no way I can learn like that. So, I decided to cancel. I first tried calling on Friday, March 20th and I left a message as well as called sporadically through the day. On Monday everytime I called I got a 'off the hook' type buzzing signal. I've been calling every week day since and either it just rings or I get the off the hook buzzing. My trial ended March 24th.

Today, March 30th I received a letter in the mail from The Law Office of Mark H. Gould dated March 27th. It states the following:

Dear KRISTEN,
Please be advised that this account has been assigned to this Law Firm for collection and/or legal action. This notice is to give you opportunity to pay if full, voluntarily, before we proceed with action against you.

Our records show that you enrolled in the Strategy Career Courses Medical Billing and Coding Program. You have received all copy written materials for the described Medical Billing, Medical Coding and Medical Terminology program. You enrolled in this course with the understanding that you would have (7) days to terminate your tuition enrollment, like most education institutions, before all course materials were sent to you, and subsequently billed for the entire course and tuition. This termination period has expired.

The following amount is DUE IMMEDIATELY:

Course Fee: $299.97
Attorney Fees: $150.00
Collection Fees: $75.00

TOTAL DUE IMMEDIATELY: $524.97

First, no company, ever sends a person to collections without first attempting to collect the debt first (which doesn't seem to have been charged to my card, but the charge is more than I have so perhaps it was declined?)

Second, not only did they not attempt to contact me to collect this debt themselves, this letter was mailed 3 days after my trial ended?!?!?! That right there is fishy as it seems like they have a plan to do this, which I think is the exact case.

Third, the post mark is from Salt Lake City UT. The Law office address is a PO Box (weird in it self) in South Jordan, UT. I did a reverse look-up on the phone number (801-878-0872). Although it didn't give an exact address, it said it's a landline in Midvale UT. I mapquested all these areas and they are within 12-16 miles of each other.

Fourth, I looked up the bar number on the letter (4237) It belongs to David E. Neff from Utah Lubricants, Llc which is in Salt Lake City, where the letter was mailed. I looked up the company and it's a lubricating oils/greases company, so my guess is he's some kind of private lawyer for this company.

Fifth, I looked up the Law Office of Mark H. Gould. This office is in Ogden UT...53 miles from everything else I looked up from the info on the letter.

Looking at all this info, I can't help but conclude this is a scam....including identity theft of a lawyer.

Ok, I got that SAME EXACT letter in the mail as well. Just today and have been flipping out all day. Thanks for this and I think that every SINGLE IFW site should be taking this TERRIBLE OFFER off the of their sites RIGHT AWAY. There will be people out there freaking out and paying that bill..... I was about to!

This is horrible! I posted on this offer a week ago as a warning to everyone to call early in the morning cause I called them several times and left messages and got no answer till I FINALLY got them and got a "termination" number and the person's name for future reference! But it was very early cause the phone number is mountain time...be careful everyone! Alot of these offers are too risky for me. I found some with 20 days free trial to receive the item AND return it all in 20 days! Almost impossible...

Did they send the letter even after you called? Or did your time expire as well?

I did this offer on March 14.... just almost two weeks ago! They NEVER tried calling me, NOTHING. I had to cancel my debit card I used with that offer, because I lost in at the laundromat and I must have forgotten about that offer or something. I mean it hasn't even been TWO WEEKS. It is TOTALLY a scam and should be reported somehow.

I feel so stupid... I was almost getting ready to call them to make like a payment plan and discuss why it was never paid for or canceled. Heh.

They're the same 1s that have Freedom From Alchohol. I was able 2 cancel in time but, I did have some trouble contacting them. I got that 'off the hook' ring as well.
I hope ur able to get this fixed. I think all those that had major issues with them should report them to the BBB, this is not right!!!!

Wow that is crazy. With most companies, if they try to get the money after the trial and can't, then they will not give you the program. It is stupid that they say since they can't get the money, they will give you the product and then send you a bill or report you. They can just simply not give you the product or program and there would be no need to ask for money.

You can not even access anything within the trial. All they give is three chapters of the course. Not even the whole thing.

OMG... Sorry everyone has had such horrible experiences with this one!! I cancelled today with no problem. A nice woman picked up on the 3rd ring, cancelled my acct. & gave me a cancellation confirmation #. I will keep an eye out for more charges though!!
