Can anyone tell me step by step exactly how to promote a posting contest? I really appreciate it!

You can start by PMing your friends to let them know that you are doing a contest. Then I would suggest you edit your thread to promote the contest, list the rules and prizes, ect.

Don't forget that it could also help to change the title of your thread so that it shows you are running a contest. And promote it in your signature so that wherever you post it will show that you have contest.

Be careful who you PM...that is self promotional and some (even friends) may report it as spam.

The best way (and really, the only way you should do it in my opinion) is to put it in your signature and link your signature to a post in your thread about your contest/rules/pay etc

First of all you need to put up a prize and define the rules of the contest (EX: at post #9000 the person who posts gets $50 and the person who has the most posts gets $25 ...something like that)

Then tell your friends about it....and put something good in the very beginning of the title so that when you reply to the thread we can all see it on the home page! Pm me with the link...ill be sure to check it out!

Also you can put it in your signature that you are having one too

Oh and be sure to keep track of the contest so that you can pay up at the end...sometimes you get more than you bargained for...lol

It never ceases to amaze me how fast questions are answered here!!:):) Now how do I start. Do I promote it by specific dates? How do I know who is in the contest and who isn't? And the posting # is the little number at the top right of your thread beside of "permalink" right? Maybe I make things too comlicated:( Thanks so much for your help!

that is a good point!!! I would only pm or im people who you talk to daily that are REALLY your friends...because it only takes one person who has a stick up thier bum to say "hey im gonna nail this one for spam" ...lol...sometimes people who you think are your friends well...they really arent!!!

it sounds to me you would be best off with a simple contest until you learn your way around the forum a bit more...why not just pick a post # that you would like your thread to reach and offer $$$ for the person who lands on it...and maybe something to the person who lands on the post right before that....then you dont really need to keep track of much!! You can have anyone who posts be in your contest....or only people who green for you...or only people who pm you so that you can add them to a list.

You can check out mine for an idea if you want, more or less only 2 people are really competing in it lol but its been fun and has gotten a ton of views/responses which to me is the whole point :)
