Ubuntu Operating System???
It's an operating system that Dell is starting to use. I just got a netbook from the them and it runs on Ubuntu. Does anyone know how this will work with doing offers? I just want to make sure it will read my cookies correctly and since I'm so used to Windows it can seem like a new language sometimes...
Any techies know anything about this Operating System and it's internet functions? |

Ubuntu is an open source Linux distribution. That makes it free to distribute, and Dell doesn't have to purchase a license from Microsoft to sell laptops/desktops preloaded with Windows. To answer the question of cookies, Ubuntu uses Firefox as its web browser. Although the file structure does not resemble Windows at all, it handles cookies just as Firefox in Windows would do.

Yes, I always do offers from my linux machine. I consider it at least as reliable as windows for getting credit as I always get credited for my offers. I don't use ubuntu linux, but linux is pretty much linux

The main advantage to Ubuntu is that everything is free...all of the software for Ubuntu is available without any licensing fees or costs.This way you are able to get and/or redistribute any or all software as you please and actually pass programs on to others with a free and legal license. The idea is that every program you will ever need for Ubuntu is free, unlike windows where there is a charge for most program licenses. I just wanted to add that I use linux (not ubuntu but as gamegreen said linux is pretty much linux) and I had all my offers credit just fine. In fact I didn't do a single thing I was told to do as far as clearing cookies or anything and I had no problems. I am now aware that you should still clear the cookies before you do offers but my point is you should have no problems at all with crediting on linux.
Enjoy Ubuntu! I'm sure you'll find many things are better in linux :)
