it's not a very good test though. I just tested it using a proxy and it said that it appeared that the request was NOT coming from a proxy. I then did the cache test and passed that with flying colors as well. And I merely used an easy online proxy-- nothing complex.

A proxy is sort of an intermediate connection to the internet, instead of connecting from your ISP to the internet/server of what you're browsing you go through a server that'll change your IP address.

so...does it work good enough or no? I tried it on one of my newbies that was on dial-up and it came through as a proxy but everyone else so far has been good. It would be nice to know now for sure if I can rely on this...

I'd say your best bet is checking with the site. I used a proxy to 'test' and it said I was not using a proxy. This is false. I even did the cache test and it still did not determine I was using a proxy. This is false. I would rather open up a support ticket and ask the site so you have 100% proof that they checked and verified that you are good.

Ok see I know that i'm not using one...I meant for my refs, I can't open a support ticket for every person I send to a site...
So it's your opinion that we shouldn't count on this proxy test to have accurate results then?
