Lightbulb Should I Dispute Old Trades?

NO! NEVER EVER EVER!!!

Each and every one of us will eventually have a trade manager filled with incomplete trades. Often times we will be tempted to cancel, or rather dispute these trades just to clean up our trade managers so that they look nicer. But why? Do you know for a fact that they aren't going to one day come back and finish? I know for me in the past year and a half, very few trade partners have actually come to me to tell me that they weren't going to ever complete a trade. But I have had several come back after a few months and say, "Hey, I'm Green!". So I came to never disguard trades simply because my trading partners never completed their offers.

Today was just such a day. Today I had an old referral come to me saying exactly that, "Hey, I'm finally Green! Woo Hoo!!!!" I couldn't believe it when I went to see when they had started the trade.
It was on Sept 23, 2008! WOW! 17 days short of 1 year!

So I say once again.... Never, EVER Dispute a trade just to clean up your trade manager.
Always have faith that they will return!!!!

Re: Should I Dispute Old Trades?

Great Post!

Honestly, I have disputed many old trades, but I also keep good notes. I also put a statement in my thread that if anyone came back, and a trade was disputed, that it can then be re-created. If it happens to be on a banned site, then at that time, I will contact Admin for further instructions.

But, I do agree! I have had many many people come back when I least expected it.

Re: Should I Dispute Old Trades?

I agree with Kandy, I do the same thing. If the trader to me is going to take that long and not contact me or any thing. I will dispute it so I have room for my new referrals. I rather have it nice and clean than them taking up my space. Also I always Message them prior to me disputing just to give them a little heads up that they still have a trader going on with me.
If they don't get back to me with such a time period I will dispute the trade. I rather have my current referrals trades on my mind then ones from months or years.

Now I am confused. You stated, "I will dispute it so I have room for my new referrals." This implies that we can only have a set number of trades listed in our trade manager. I have never had an issue with running out of room for new trades. True, I may have to scroll down a little more each time one is added, but never have I, nor have I ever heard of anyone running out of room.

Oh well, you do it your way and make more work for yourself (dispute, delete, re-create) and I'll do it my way and keep the trades there. Afterall, if the trade is gone, you don't have to pay. Especially since we can now get rid of them completely, right?

I hope the majority of the traders whom read this understand the original intended message.

Good Luck & God Bless!

Re: Should I Dispute Old Trades?

Yep you are right. I don't like having trades in my trade manager that are so old I have to wonder when they are comming back I rather get rid of them and start of new.
Nothing to about space or any thing like that, just like my new trades up in the from and my old trades below. Nothing wrong with your way or mine ,,, both are good ideas. Just depends on the trader thats all.
