NYPD investigators say a man was shot and killed by police officers Wednesday night after he stabbed two people inside a Harlem apartment building, including a good Samaritan who was killed.

Investigators with the New York City Police Department say a man was shot and killed by police officers Wednesday night after he lunged at them with a knife inside a Harlem apartment building.

Police had responded to a call after a man in his 50s said he was slashed in the hand and torso by his girlfriend's son.

It happened on West 144th Street and Lenox Avenue just before 7 p.m.

When police arrived, investigators say a 21-year-old man charged at them with a six-inch blade, seen right. He was ordered to drop his weapon, and when he refused, officers fired at least five shots.

The stabbing victim was taken to Harlem Hospital where his condition is described as stable.

Wow, I herd somthing like this here in LA county...
I guess that guy should have dropped his knife.
