What do you like to read?
Hi all. I'm new here as you can tell and am trying to get to know you all while I wait for a few things before I get started trading.. One way I figured out how to learn about people was to find out what they like to read. be it books, comics or magazines. I'll start.
I'm a huge Sci Fi and Horror buff and have read all my life. A few of my favorites are The Honor Harrington books by David Weber. The BOLOS! books by Keith Lermer Eric Flint's Ring of fire books Whillam Gibson Isac Asimov Jules Vern HP Lovecraft Clive Barker Stephan King Philop K Dick A few comics I like Anything by Frank Miller V for Vendetta Grendel by Mat Wagner Gunslinger Girl Ninja High School Gunsmith Cats Akira anything by Rumico Takahashi Magazines Fangoria Newtype Rolling Stone various guitar mags. Re: What do you like to read?
I have young children and I find adventure fun and it holds their attention.
The latest series is The Gaurdians of the Ga'Hoole Tree I hope that is the correct title. Can't remember the author. But excellent books. We have read them all. But for myself, I was never a big reading fanatic and found that historical romance books were something that I could get into. Nice to meet you as well. and welcome to the FLR. Sharon

Re: What do you like to read?
I think Stephen King is a living god. Alot of people say they won't read it cause it's scary. For all those people, Please read at least the first book in the Dark Tower series, "The Gunslinger," it's not scary it's his "Lord of the Rings" type tale of a journey to the Dark Tower.

Re: What do you like to read?
I love the Dark Tower books as well.
How can I have forgotten Harry Potter as well. Those books really surprised me. They treat the reader like he/she has a brain. As far as childrens books, one I remember was The Mouse and the Motorcycle. Another one that was Introduced to recent in the last Honor Harrington book was a book called David and the Phoenix. The author's name escapes me right now. Weber said it was one of his favorites as a child. I went out and found a copy and enjoyed it greatly. |

Re: What do you like to read?
I forgot about the Harry Potter books, they were great. Wish the movies wouldn't leave so much information out.

Re: What do you like to read?
omg i love so many books that to name them all would take forever. I love Harry Potter and I agree with Sharon that the movies leave waaaay too much out!! I loved LOTR and the Hobit...I loved the Diana Gabaldon Series with the time travel thru the stone circles (Outlander I think... lots of books in it though... and they are fat ones... which i love love love!) I love Nora Roberts and have read pretty much ALL of her books but I specifically like her trilogies that deal with the paranormal, vampires, or witches. I just read the Sword of Shannara trilogy and that was pretty good...similiar to LOTR. I love the Robert Jordan fantasy series "the wheel of time" but when i started it I didnt know that Mr.Jordan dies before doing the last book and now after reading at least 12 fat books in that series I am left waiting for the last promised one to be written by another guy and supposedly it all wouldnt fit into one so that last book will actuallly be a trilogy within itself with the first part out this winter...lol! And I love all of Dan Browns books (deception point is the best one!)
I like romance, mystery (lived on Nancy Drew as a teenager...well that and Judy Blume), fantasy, sci-fi, but I dont really like horror type...allthough most of my book reading friends said that I would like Steven Kings Gunslinger series and jade bought it for me for my birthday so the first 4 books are sitting on my headboard waiting for me to start on them... they will be next. I also have the Twighlight books waiting to be read. I read about 1 to 2 books a week...I am an insomniac so i do a lot of reading at night. I love to read...

Re: What do you like to read?
Hello Lucky777! Thanks for the input. I've heard a lot of good things about Wheel of Time. I think one of Mr. Jordan's relatives is involved with the new book if memory serves me right. Have you ever read any David Weber? I haven't read alot of his fantasy, however I'm addicted to the Honor Harrington books. Baen Books Science Fiction & Fantasy - Home Page has put a lot of books up in their Free Library including On Baslic Station the first of the HH books. Also if you go there check out 1632 by Eric Flint. This is the first in the Ring of Fire series about a modern Verginia Mining town gets sent back in time to the middle of Europe during the 30 years war. Also check out a book called Fallen Angels. The authors name escapes me at the moment but If you are remotely involved in SF and F fandom you might get a kick out of it?

Re: What do you like to read?
I have read every book ever written by V.C. Andrews. She passed away a few years back but already had a few more books written and in her closet. Most of you have probably at least heard of one of her books as it was made into a movie, Flowers in The Attic. That book is actually like the 3rd book in a series.
I would suggest reading any of her books as they are sooooo awesome.
