My son and I share the same hobbies, for the most part (and yes, I often have the mentality of a 12 year old...lol...it's the only way I can keep up!)...Wrestling is #1 - Smackdown/Raw are heavy hitters and there's not a whole lot we don't have in that genre - it's where his allowance goes:) Movie buffs although I'm still into black and whites while son needs color to truly "see":)

Used to craft long ago and started dabbling again here lately thanks to taterbaby reminding me the importance of keeping the imagination active and having son help:) So guess our real hobbies are...anything we can do together and he's becoming quite the tutor so that's a really great thing!
I made most of my friends through hobbies. Most of them I met going to sci fi conventions and looking for all the old Japanese toys and fansubs(this was before the internet). Some of the best movies are B&W. Night of the Living Dead, Casablanca, Frankenstein, Clerks, Blackbord Jungle and The Day the Earth Stood still come to mind. You and your son like to do things with your hands, Do a search on Amazon.com for "gundam 1.144 model" these are fully poseable robot models that are completely snap together. The instructions are in Japanese but the part numbers and letters are in English. My wife builds a few and she is not a modeler. Might be something different.

I also draw and paint however it is a necessity for my continued existence. As far as Music I collect I'm all over the place. I listen to everything from Jonney Cash to Linken Park to Sarah Mclachlan to Alice Cooper to Japanese animation soundtracks to Kate Bush. I read King, Gibson, Vern, Weber, Dickens, DIck and Asimov to name a few.

Re: What are your Hobbies?

dandy8 Cool that you sell some of your work. I'm storybording one of my scripts. I'm debating on making a manga style comic of it. Its a zombie flick maybe a short series with an anime type feel. I'm trying to do something different with it. Its not just about gross outs (though there will be some). The thing that always fascinated me about horror/disaster flicks is that they bring a person's true nature to the front be they a tin god or someoe who cares for others. I was born in 1970 (Star Wars was the most memorable thing in my childhood and still affects me today. However when I get into something I don't do it in halfs. I like to see what came before. A few other b&w films in my collection... Fritz Lang's Metropolis, Countless film Noir gangster flicks, Seven Samerai and of course Psycho along with most of Hitchcock's that I've been able to get my hands on. I also love the old b&w cartoons like Betty Boop and Popeye. I'm really into animation of all types and love to see the early stuff. My wife bought me the entire Twilight Zone on DVD for my birthday and other than watching Eureka all Friday we have sat and watched it all. Still one of the best TV shows hands down.

Re: What are your Hobbies?

this is a cool thread for sure!!

I love to read also in my spare time... and I get into fantasy, sci fi, and romance mostly I guess. I love Dan Brown books, Nora Roberts, Diana Gabaldon, Robert Jordan, but I also love the classics like The scarlet letter, Cider House Rules, 20,000 Leagues under the sea, LOTR, Tom Sawyer, Othello, and then again i also really like mythology stuff (allthough I have tried to read the I&O several times and cant get into it... but I think its the type of old world English its in that gives me the trouble... but I love the stories about all those Gods and stuff... hercules, Medusa, Zeuss... its cool reading!)

I also like a good movie but I have to admit I'm not too big on B&W or older flicks. I like the efffects that we have today so much more in the movies... they can make it look so much more realistic now. I do however like musicals and the old style Disney movies like The SOUND of Music, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Mary Poppins, you know the ones where everyone breaks out into song and dance...lol. Which brings me to the theatre... I love going to see a show. Cats is probably one of my favorites and I have been to it 3 times on broadway... but I also really love Jesus Christ Superstar which i have seen live twice. Fiddler, Les Mis, Grease, I love em all. I love going... getting dressed up kinda fancy and attending one of those shows is always a blast.

I guess I just like going to shows in general too though because I have been to so many concerts its insane and I dont ever see me stopping...lol... I LOVE MUSIC!! I really love seeing live music even if its not famous songs but a local band... i just love instruments and hearing each one within a song playing its own part.

I like to cook for people.

Mostly I love to do things with the guys in my life... son, hubby, brother, dad.... growing up I was always with the boys, very athletic and into sports, playing paintball, skiing, going to a game... those are always fun. My little guy loves to play "Trouble" and he manages to get all his guys home while I am still sitting there awaiting a six...lol!!! We go to the park and have cookouts... I am a very family oriented person and if I am with my fam I am usually happy. We have had some crazy games of monopoly over the years... and hosted some murder mysteries. Video Games are an old standby around here... and yes I do play them and sometimes I just watch hubby play one and tell him what to do within it...lol. Those are pretty much my hobbies.

I've got to learn to multi-quote one of these days :)

I love to go to concerts but I don't get to too many Had tickets to see Pink Floyd when they hit Clemson a while back but I couldn't find a ride :( . I've seen New Edition, Fat boys and a few rappers during an outdoor show in the 80s. Petra when I was in collage. My wife has taken me to see Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. We also used to go see Jackyl back when they did their free shows around Halloween around here. I also like local bands and performers. Theres a band I caught in Ashville a few years back called Loch Ness Jonny. They are a mix of celtic, Punk and rock. We were so Impressed the we bought all three CDs they had out at the time. Really good sound. My wife is a huge Monopoly fan and we collect different versions. We have about 9 now including the Star Trek The Next Generation version a friend gave me for my birthday. We also have a huge collection of Garfield stuff and stuffed animals Garfield, Snoopy, Muppets, Pokemon and Japanese crane game plushs of varioius characters from shows like Dragonball Z, Inu Yasha and Naruto. Its funny she's not a big anime fan but she likes these, go figure.
