** READ THIS ** New welcome thread rule for all to see.

For all of you, like myself, who missed the new rule posted by Admin here it is:

9/6/08 - You will now be required to quote the member you are replying to with your welcome message. This is to cut down on the people that are spamming that thread regardless of any new members posting in there which has grown increasing obvious. When the violation has been reported, it's a 1 day temporary ban.

My question is, doesn't this just encourage those who go through 12 or 24 hours worth of posts quoting everyone who posted. I have seen some people post the same premade welcome message 5 or 6 times in a row to 5 or 6 different people even if the original post was many hours earlier.
To me this is worse than a generic welcome posted once.

I will of course follow this rule now that it has been stated, just wondering if it isn't gonna crap up the thread even more.

Thanks for sharing this, Big L...and you've made a good point as many traders will post for each and every individual newcomer, which is fine...but that can be anywhere up to 20-30some posts, back to back...and let's multiply that by how many traders?

Not so sure that one makes sense, to be honest...and I can see I won't be posting only a couple times a day...maybe...anymore:) Whelp, that's a great way to kill a thread...and that's too bad for new folks...we just gotta make it convoluted rather than something simple like you have to quote each user in one post....or can't post more than twice a day or so...simple, easy...but what do I know? lol...I'm just an old woman:)

Good point Lori. I have a rule for myself that I never post a quoted welcome to any one that posted there "hello" more than an hour before. I really doubt that anyone comes back hours later to see who welcomes them. Just my 2 cents.

MicMarino was kind enough to bring the rule to may attention, I didn't like the thought of someone getting banned for innocently trying to welcome someone sans quote. LOL.
I'm sure most of us do not start at the first post of the welcome thread when we want to post there.

Thanks for the information! As always you are on top of things! Maybe I will just stop posting to welcome members all together-I hate to get banned just for saying welcome to someone but I agree there are a lot of posts that don't seem to be welcoming or saying hello to new members at all!

Well...it was 30 pages to revisit in order to make sure I've no "lone" welcomes hanging out there, and they've since been edited (the rule was dated 9/6)...30 pages for a roughly 24 hour period....wow...Thankfully, I only had 2 but noticed...there was a lot of company...
